First let me say the build quality is VERY GOOD.How very useful, . . . there is a variable heat adjustment built in giving you a choice of a low wattage iron perfect for delicate work, and a much higher wattage iron for soldering to heavy terminals, lugs and other items that seem to suck up the heat.I use to modify my old irons by using an external dimmer control, but now its built into this iron.Good quality tip also.
